About The Soapy Bar

Who am I?

My name is Camille, affectionately known as Soapy, and I am a mother of two boys. I love science, music, nature, glitter, and my family. I was a high school chemistry teacher for over 18 years and enjoyed sharing my love of chemistry using various techniques to make it enjoyable and fun for my students.

How did I get into making soap and cosmetics?

I had a itchy, scratchy baby that had allergies and a number of other issues. Up to that point, I didn't really think about skincare ingredients for myself. It was when I started reading ingredients to make sure my son had the appropriate product for a baby - I basically found one item - a bar of soap that I was willing to use on him. That bar had oatmeal in it, but among its last ingredients which meant that it was not in the amount I would have liked it. My journey began there. With that bar of soap.

What will I be blogging about?

I have a lot to say! Lol! Actually, as an introvert - not really. This blog is an outlet for me to have conversations about soap making, ingredients, topics related to natural skin care, the environment, and travel (a few of my passions).

I also make soap and scented products for other businesses, so you might also see topics related to business growth and development, troubleshooting, and fragrances pop up here and there.
